We were thrilled to be invited to undertake a project with 7IM which began a week before lockdown in March 2020 and ended just as restrictions were being lifted in June.
At the time, although excelling at external communications, 7IM did not have a formal Internal Comms team or function. Given their size (approx. 350 staff, across 4 UK sites) and their drive to reinvigorate their culture under the leadership of new CEO Dean Proctor, they needed to create the infrastructure, processes and procedures to set up the function and ensure its success.
We revelled in the challenge, in particular, supporting the talented and friendly team in designing, scheduling and executing a 2020 internal comms campaign around their cultural change programme, alongside the covid comms – this included information on events and initiatives around behavioural change they want to encourage and embed.
Week one, we shifted focus to supporting with lockdown comms and guides and tips for working from home. We quickly set up a Sharepoint Intranet to house all the guides, vlogs and updates that we were helping to create and distribute. This includes a news section which works as a central hub for information – very useful at a time when all staff were widely dispersed. Along the way, we prepared matrices and documentation to enable a full and thorough handover back to the business.
